Building contractors are smiling these days.
And they have good reason. According to an article in the L A Times last week, sales of newly built homes in the U.S. climbed to their highest level in six years. The Commerce Department said new home sales increased an estimated 18% from July to an annual rate of 504,000. This is a 33% increase from July of 2013 and the highest recorded since May of 2008. So contractors have reason to crack a smile. “Last week,” according to the Times, “a builders trade group reported that its members were the most confident they had been in nine years.” If you’re a builder, have a cool one.
